Smart studios would have already figured out that the best time to release movies is during the slow period of respiratory viruses. Focus on Spring/early summer. Waiting until Sept-Dec for the normal big time releases will be a gamble. Either they should of risked it to hit the Black Widow or F9 period or they should wait until 2022 and lock in the release date first. Venom should of released between the other two Marvel movies -- now they are at the mercy of peoples opinions of safety of movie theaters (regardless of how you feel the real data says about their safety).
Also, when are theaters going to implement the vaccine only screenings? Saw the interview on BoxOfficePro where a theater implemented two days a week for this and saw a good return. I still don't understand why major theaters are not doing this. "Safer" options for the hesitant and "normal" options for those who don't care.
